I am assuming if some M1 issue is widespread that Apple would deal with it regardless of AppleCare. At one time you could buy AppleCare Amazon, it was somewhat cheaper than Apple direct, but certain issues arose, dealers selling the same AC to 3 or 4 clients!, all good until a claim was made. Maybe its good to buy it for peace of mind.ĪppleCare is purely an Insurance (run by Apple for Apple Products) At odd times I've had older machines go haywire after an Update, Apple never refused to Help - But, if repairs are needed AppleCare really is a great asset. The M1 doesn't do that, yet I will say any issues I had with the 2011 model happened well past the 3 year mark, not sure I will get that lucky with the M1. Well, my 2011 machine barely holds a charge anymore, it shorts out anytime the charger is bumped into and crashes entirely. So, what is your experience of the difference between the 2011 machine and the M1? You have to go through Apple/Mac authorised repair people and that is going to cost much more than the $249 for Apple Care. That is: you can no longer fix/replace anything yourself or drop it off at your local computer shop for repairs. Since 2011, things have changed in one way that affects whether you should purchase Apple Care. Who knows what could go wrong?
